Alcohol was the most frequently identified substance reported at treatment admission for both men and women, followed by marijuana and methamphetamines. While this data summarizes the national trends for treatment admission, state specific patterns of use differ widely. Collaboratives and stakeholders are encouraged to look at their state specific data trends.

Note: Estimates based on entry into substance use treatment during fiscal year and includes primary, secondary, and tertiary substance as reported at treatment entry.

It is a free, confidential, 24-hour-a-day, 365-day-a year information service, in English and Spanish, for individuals and family members needing treatment for a mental and/or substance use disorder.

Serving the United States and Canada, the hotline is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with professional crisis counselors who—through interpreters—provide assistance in over 170 languages.
